1997 Honda CR-V LX Ignition Checks

This 5 pages of 1997 Honda CR-V LX Basic Diagnostic Procedures will describes about Ignition Checks Electronic Ignition System. Spark Check for spark at secondary coil wire and each spark plug wire using a spark tester. Check spark plug wire resistance on suspect wires. Resistance should be less than 25,000 ohms at 68°F (20°C). Ignition Coil Resistance (External Coil) 1. Turn ignition off. Remove primary and secondary leads from ignition coil. Using an ohmmeter, check primary resistance between ignition coil connector terminals “A” and “B”. See Fig. 1 . Resistance should be as specified. See IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE . 2. Check secondary resistance between ignition coil connector terminal “A” and secondary output terminal (coil tower). See IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE . Check for continuity between terminals “A” and “C”. Continuity should exist. If readings are not within specification, replace coil. Ignition Coil Resistance (Internal Coil) 1. Turn ignition off. Remove distributor cap. Remove primary leads from ignition coil. Using an ohmmeter, check primary resistance between ignition coil terminals “A+” and “B-”. See Fig. 2 . Resistance should be as specified. See IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE. 2. Check secondary resistance between ignition coil terminal “A” (+) and secondary output terminal (coil tower). See IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE . If readings are not as specified, replace ignition coil. get
